World Bank Unveils First Digital Strategy for Developing Countries
Priorities include connectivity, affordable devices, digital services, and preparing states for AI adoption

According to the World Bank's assessment, over the next 10–15 years, 1.2 billion young people of working age will reach adulthood in developing countries. It is expected that the economies of these states will provide only about 420 million jobs.
In 2025, the internet remained inaccessible to more than 2 billion people worldwide. The plan includes expanding networks, reducing the cost of devices and services, launching digital identification and payment systems, and training citizens and small businesses.
Additionally, the Bank announced a program for developing AI infrastructure. Emerging market countries should gain access to computing resources at an affordable price; shared use of GPU infrastructure with pay-as-you-go pricing is envisaged. The initiative will initially target Africa and Latin America, with partners including Cassava Technologies and Nvidia.
