French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez submitted his resignation request on Sunday, 18 October, but Macron did not accept it.
Nuñez stated that he acknowledges his share of responsibility for what happened. According to him, the ministry expected the scale of the unrest to be 2.5 times smaller, and there were insufficient police officers compared to the number of protest participants.
After nationwide actions on 17 October in France, over 2,300 people were detained.
