Amazon plans to invest over 16 billion euros in Germany by 2027—into jobs, technology, and infrastructure. 4.8 billion euros are earmarked for expanding the Amazon Web Services cloud region in Frankfurt.

The plans will be announced on October 20 during the Invest in Germany summit. The event is organized by the German government, and Chancellor Friedrich Merz will participate.

Germany was described as attractive for investments by Amazon’s Senior Vice President for Global Public Policy and General Counsel David Zapolsky. He noted that since 2010, the company has invested over 100 billion euros in the country. Germany’s Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katharina Reiche, interpreted Amazon’s plans as a vote of confidence in Germany.
