At a research site in Austin, the first working prototype is planned to be obtained around May or June 2027. It will be a microchip based on SRAM—static random-access memory, which is used to test designs and debug production processes.
The SpaceX and Tesla project aims to create in-house semiconductor manufacturing capabilities for the companies. In response to a question about EUV equipment from the Dutch company ASML, Musk did not confirm any orders but thanked the suppliers for their assistance in accelerating deliveries.
