Uzbekistan aims to produce one million tonnes of fish annually
By 1 March 2027, the republic plans to conduct an inventory of over 4,000 reclamation wells

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed projects aimed at producing 1 million tonnes of fish annually.
In the Balykchi district, 24 reclamation wells are planned to be integrated into fish farming complexes that cover the full cycle—from raising fry and producing feed to processing, storage, and product sales. Each facility is set to produce at least 30 tonnes of trout per year.
One of the proposals was the formation of a fish farming holding company. Separately, plans for cultivating and processing cold-water fish in Khanabad, as well as developing fish farming in the Ulugnor reservoirs, were discussed. Officials have been instructed to provide financial support for the initiatives and reimburse expenses for training the population in fish farming.
