Anthropic Reports $80 Billion Loss in First Half of 2026
The company's revenue grew, but expenses on AI infrastructure increased as well

Anthropic recorded a net loss of over $80 billion in the first six months of 2026, according to a draft IPO prospectus. The bulk of the losses, amounting to $72 billion, stemmed from accounting write-offs due to changes in the value of convertible bonds and other financial instruments issued to attract funding.
The company also stated that it may allocate up to $750 billion in the coming years to acquire additional computing capacity. Some potential deals are still under discussion. The document lists potential harm from Anthropic's products among the risks, including sophisticated cyberattacks and blackmail by uncontrolled models.
Anthropic did not respond to a request for comment, and the non-public information could not be promptly verified at the time of publication.
