Netflix Shares Drop to Two-Year Low
Since the start of the year, they have fallen nearly 30%
During premarket trading on Wednesday, Netflix shares dropped by 7%, falling below $64 per share. The company’s fourth-quarter revenue forecast was slightly below Wall Street expectations, and since the beginning of the year, the shares have lost nearly 30%.
Netflix is attempting to increase viewer engagement through new popular series and films. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos stated that the company can perform better; earlier, Netflix dismissed content chief Bela Bajaria, who is to be replaced by Peter Rice, and laid off 1,000 employees.
Analysts are divided on the future strategy. Some believe Netflix should develop short videos to compete with YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, while others point to the potential of advertising, live broadcasts, and content licensing partnerships.
