Resort town of Patong in Thailand flooded due to heavy rains

Around 143 mm of precipitation fell on the island in 24 hours, disrupting traffic in three districts. Meteorologists warn that rains will continue until October 28.

A torrent of water flooded the Nanai neighborhood in Patong. Several houses and cars were damaged, and some property and vehicles were destroyed. There is no information about casualties, reports the local portal The Nation.

After the water level receded, staff from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation began clearing the affected areas.

The Thai Meteorological Department has warned that rains will continue from October 25 to 28. Precipitation may lead to new floods and landslides in low-lying areas and on slopes near bodies of water.
