Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that universities in Uzbekistan have increased the number of graduates but have not sufficiently improved their training. Now, each university must determine what kind of personnel it trains and for whom.

Erkinjon Turdimov was appointed head of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science on October 9. Prior to this, he headed the Syrdarya, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Navoi regions. The new ministry was created on October 3 by merging two agencies.
