Shavkat Mirziyoyev Receives FAO’s Highest Award for Contribution to Food Security
The President of Uzbekistan has been awarded the "Agricola" medal for initiatives in agricultural development and the fight against hunger, the press service of the head of state reports.

On October 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Qu Dongyu. The meeting discussed strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector and food security.
Currently, Uzbekistan and FAO are implementing 27 joint projects and a new five-year partnership program. The country has joined the FAO Council for the first time for the 2028–2029 term. On October 7, an Agro-Innovation Hub for landlocked developing countries will open in Tashkent.
The award was presented for achievements in agriculture and water management, as well as for contributions to ensuring food security. The "Agricola" medal was established in 1977 and is awarded for efforts in combating hunger.
