Greenhouse farms near Tashkent propose transition to 'green' technologies
Industry representatives are prepared to modernise heating systems and install online emission monitoring to continue operating in the capital region, reports Gov.uz.
Greenhouse farms in the capital region have proposed to the authorities that they be allowed to continue operating on the condition of transitioning to environmentally friendly heating technologies. They are ready to use natural gas, electricity, geothermal and solar energy, as well as secondary thermal energy from thermal power plants.
If these technologies are unavailable, the farms propose using coal in modern boilers equipped with emission purification and filtration systems. All emission data must be transmitted to the National Centre for Environmental Monitoring in real time. A working group comprising representatives from relevant agencies reviewed the proposals, but tests of a prototype filter revealed excesses of permissible emission standards.
A draft document is currently being prepared to establish safe standards for boiler equipment filters. Subsidies and tax incentives will be provided for farms that agree to modernisation. Those who fail to install environmentally safe systems will be unable to operate in the capital region.
