Steam Will Not Protect Developers from AI Clones
Over 7,200 demos participated in the October 'Games Must Be' festival, 36% of which were created using AI.

Valve has no plans to restrict developers from using artificial intelligence tools. This was stated by Steam representatives Tom Giardino and Mark Wilkinson at the Steam Indie Connect conference in South Korea.
Giardino believes that clones existed even before the advent of AI, but now creating copies has become faster. According to him, developers should protect their projects not with a single easily replicable mechanic, but with a combination of features, character, and original ideas.
Wilkinson acknowledged that the recommendation algorithm at the festival displayed demos in a random order. As a result, users more frequently saw low-quality projects, and Valve is seeking a solution to the problem.
