Tashkent Performs First Robotic and AI-Assisted Joint Replacement Surgery
Doctors from all regions observed the surgery online, and before it began, the robot analyzed the patient's CT scan.
At the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics, a hip joint was replaced using a robotic assistant. The system performed high-precision movements during the procedure, and in cases of severe deformities, the correct angle for implant placement is particularly critical.
Traumatologist-orthopedist Dilshod Shamsimetov noted that the technology allows for more accurate selection and placement of the endoprosthesis, reduces the likelihood of complications, and enables a faster transition to rehabilitation. Specialists from China and Russia participated in the operation.
Robotic surgeries are planned to be introduced in the center's regional branches in the future.
