Spotify to expand audiobook service to 180 countries by the end of 2026
The company will add support for new languages and expand its book catalog to attract young listeners, Spotify reports.
Spotify has announced the expansion of its audiobook service to all 180 countries where its streaming service is available by the end of 2026. Currently, audiobooks are available in 22 countries, including the U.S. and the U.K., for users with a Premium subscription priced at $12.99 per month.
The Premium service Audiobooks+ increases the listening limit from 15 to 30 hours. According to the company, over 1 million users have already subscribed to this service, and its annual revenue has reached $100 million. About half of the audiobook listeners on the platform are under 35 years old.
Spotify has also launched the Page Match feature, which allows users to switch between reading a physical book and listening to the audio version on the same page. Users of this feature complete books twice as fast, and two-thirds of them are under 35 years old.
