The 71-year-old pontiff is staying at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital and will remain there for about a week.
Leo XIV first spoke about his health issues during a Sunday prayer at St. Peter’s Square. He stated that doctors had discovered a small nodule and recommended surgery. The pontiff plans to travel to Latin America from November 6 to 17, but it is not yet known how his recovery will affect these plans.
