Tax threshold for parents of private school students to be doubled
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also announced automatic refunds of payments at the end of each month.
In Uzbekistan, the income threshold exempt from taxation for parents of private school students will be increased from 3 million to 6 million sums, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated on September 30. For families, this means the opportunity to save 6–7 million sums per year.
Tax authorities must launch automatic refunds of funds at the end of each month. Parents will not need to apply separately for refunds, though the start date of the new procedure was not specified during the meeting.
The President also announced new support measures for private schools in districts with high educational workloads. Preferential lending and subsidies for part of the expenses for establishing and equipping schools—up to 1.5 billion sums—will be provided for the opening of such institutions.
Owners of buildings that lease them to schools will receive benefits on land and property taxes. In each district, vacant state-owned buildings can be transferred to private schools for free lease, and half of the expenses for international accreditation will be reimbursed.
The meeting also noted that the need for new school places is growing. Additional student places are created annually through investment programs, and authorities expect to expand the involvement of the private sector where the workload on schools is particularly high.
