Honda to test roads with wireless charging for electric vehicles
The company, together with partners, has developed a technology that will allow vehicles to be charged while driving without stopping, according to an official Honda press release.

Honda, Taisei Corporation, and Taisei Rotec have created a technology for wireless energy transmission through road surfaces. The system uses electromagnetic induction and is designed for passenger and commercial electric vehicles.
Testing on public roads in Japan will begin in April 2027. The technology is designed for trucks weighing up to 20 tons and is expected to provide power transmission of up to 150 kW. Honda developed the vehicle receiver modules, while its partners created the road infrastructure.
Collaboration on the project has been underway since 2025. Testing will take place on a specially equipped section of the highway, where the durability of the system and its efficiency for different types of transport will be evaluated.
