Uzbekistan to Head International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev called the chairmanship of the fund a great responsibility and proposed strengthening control over water resources in the region.

Mirziyoyev noted that water shortages are restraining the development of Central Asia. He proposed introducing digital monitoring of water resources, upgrading irrigation systems, and more widely applying water-saving technologies.
The head of state also urged countries in the region to implement the initiative of the Decade of Practical Action for the Rational Use of Water.
