Projects Worth $7.6 Billion Launched in Karakalpakstan to Develop Digital Economy
During the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Karakalpakstan, projects totaling $7.6 billion were launched, along with the construction of new capacities. Over the past nine years, more than $5 billion in investments have been attracted to the region. By the end of 2026, the volume of investments is planned to reach $2.5 billion.

The region intends to develop digital infrastructure for new enterprises and service sector facilities, including expanding the use of artificial intelligence, automation, and data processing technologies. In the Takhiatash district, the task has been set to create a modular intelligent computing center.
At the Youth Socio-Economic Center, plans include opening an IT university and a technopark for startups. Additionally, the goal has been set to implement ten startup projects in Karakalpakstan, each worth $1 million. For these purposes, 30 billion sums are expected to be allocated annually from the Science and Innovation Fund. In 2026, 175 startups were supported in the region.
At the national level, the goal has been set to attract $5 billion in foreign investments for the development of artificial intelligence and to increase the use of data processing, cloud technologies, and computing centers tenfold. In Karakalpakstan, according to the material, plans include creating a data center with an investment cost of $8.3 billion and a computing capacity of 1525 MW. Its export potential is estimated at $600 million. Under the program 'Heirs of Muhammad al-Khwarizmi,' 1700 students are being trained. They study programming, artificial intelligence, robotics, animation, and other IT fields.
In the Chimbay district, an IT town project is being implemented. It includes four training rooms, 34 computers, and a co-working space; the plan is to train 150 young people in modern IT professions annually. According to the material, more than 100 IT projects and over 25 IT companies have been created in Karakalpakstan, resulting in 1090 jobs.
